Reworld™ Essex partners with Panasonic and Weequahic Park in the City of Newark at for a free E-Waste collection event. Electronic waste, or e-waste, refers to discarded electrical and electronic equipment. This includes items such as computers, televisions, printers, and appliances. If not properly recycled, e-waste can pose serious environmental and health risks due to the toxic materials it contains. That is why responsible disposal and recycling of electronic items is essential.

During a recent collection event, a local school partnered with Reworld™ Essex to make a meaningful impact. The school community donated a wide range of items, including Keurigs, monitors, laptops, keyboards, keypads, and older Samsung devices. Many of these items had been stored for years without a clear disposal option. Several teachers commented, “I have had this for years and did not know how to get rid of it.”

Students from the science department played an active role in organizing and participating in the event, helping to divert a significant volume of electronic waste from landfills.

Accepted items for this collection included CPUs, televisions, computer monitors, printers, scanners, disc drives, answering machines, and projectors. However, some items could not be accepted, including mini fridges, full-sized refrigerators, oil filters, space heaters, devices containing Freon, smoke detectors, loose batteries, and any hazardous or highly hazardous materials.
