Covanta is now Reworld™.  Learn More>

Your communities are our communities, and the best solutions come from working side by side. We believe it’s our fundamental duty to listen attentively and respond effectively to the people in the neighborhoods where we work and live, whatever their concerns.

What giving back looks like at Reworld™

By supporting environmental education, participating in local programs and volunteering in neighborhoods across the U.S. and Canada, we’re dedicated to making a difference day to day.

Our pledge as we take action to achieve more together

Being clear, open and transparent in everything we do is always a top priority for Reworld. We recognize that some communities have been disproportionately burdened by the cumulative effects of industrial operations. This is why our sustainability solutions aim ever higher, and we relentlessly seek ever-better carbon-negative outcomes. We will always keep you posted about our operations and all the important ways they might affect your communities.

How we make meaningful, lasting change for the people we serve

By being engaged in our communities, we’re able to tailor solutions and gain a clearer perspective on our impact and how we can affect and improve lives. We’re all motivated and empowered to make a positive difference through measurable action.

Financial investment

Every day we’re working to go beyond the targets others set for us, and we’re continuously improving our operations. Over the last 10 years, we've invested one billion dollars into our sites to stay on the cutting edge of technology, so we can take our sustainable processes further and vanquish greenhouse gases.

Educating the next generation

We’re passionate about sharing our mission with future STEM leaders. Over 7,000 students have visited our state-of-the-art facilities and learned how they can combat climate change in 2023 alone. We’ve also sponsored school recycling programs and supported environmental clubs in schools and districts across North America.

Leading through policy

Our industry-first environmental justice policy served as a national model, and is constantly evolving to guide our community engagement. We were also one of the first companies to support the landmark environmental justice legislation in New Jersey, which aims to address the cumulative environmental impacts in overburdened areas.
