What is waste transportation?

Waste transportation refers to the process of collecting, transferring and delivering waste materials from their point of origin to a designated facility for disposal. Traditionally, “designated facilities” were often just landfills. But today, through the right partners, those designated facilities include Material Processing Facilities (MPFs) and Thermomechanical Treatment Facilities (TTFs), which possess some mix of waste treatment, reuse, recycling, fuel creation, or energy recovery capabilities. The waste transportation and logistics that are associated with such sites ensure that waste is handled safely and efficiently while complying with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations and compliance standards.

Safe and compliant waste transportation is essential for maintaining public health, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance. Proper transportation prevents illegal dumping, reduces pollution, and ensures waste materials reach facilities where they can be processed responsibly. What happens to waste after it is transported?

Once transported, waste is processed based on its type and disposal method. At ReworldTM, it may be prepped to be reused in another operation, or undergo recycling, composting, or some other green process. Hazardous waste and wastewater, however, is first treated to neutralize harmful effects and separated from its contaminants before running through any of those systems. Post-recycled / non-recyclable waste may be used for alternative engineered fuel (AEF) production or steam and electricity generation via waste-to-energy. Ultimately, the goal is to maximize resource recovery and value creation while minimizing risk and environmental impact.]
