The Covanta Huntington facility sponsored a battery bounty program at the Town of Smithtown’s hazardous household waste collection event. Regional Environmental Manager Brian Aerne collected rechargeable batteries from residents for recycling and distributed Home Depot gift cards to participants. More than 200 batteries were collected. Brian also handed out educational materials to explain the dangers of improper battery disposal.
