Helping Veterans After a Devastating Fire

April 7, 2022

Covanta SEMASS employees raised over $1,100 for 13 disabled veterans who were left homeless and lost all their belongings after a devastating fire at the Acorn Hill Home in Middleboro, MA. The SEMASS facility matched the donations, and all proceeds went to Middleboro’s American Legion Post 46 to support the group’s efforts in finding new homes for the veterans and meeting their needs.

The fundraiser was organized by Maintenance Supervisor Bud Records, who also donated two handmade wooden American flags. One will be raffled off, with proceeds going to support the veterans. The other will be presented to a Massachusetts state trooper injured when he rescued one of the veterans from a third-floor window.
