Covanta Hempstead along with Covanta's three other Long Island facilities (Covanta Babylon, Covanta Huntington and Covanta MacArthur).Once again, the Long Island facilities were the major sponsor of the Long Island Regional Envirothon. This annual competition is Long Island’s premier environmental studies program for high school students. More than 20 high school teams competed for a chance to win college scholarships and advance to the state competition held in Albany.
